Note, I’m rocking this Responsive Twenty Ten child theme today, the result of a nicely crafted little tutorial in Web Designer Magazine this month, by Thord. Go on, resize your browser window, you know you want to.

Here’s a random couple of videos on Responsive Design, albeit not quite as random as the one above.

My newish Mac Mini will be on my doorstep in just days now, I’ll get a couple of big ole monitors linked up to it, then – then I’ll actually get round to doing some WordPress theme design. You just wait! there’ll be some totally radical stuff up here before long… I just need some more incentive to sit in front of a computer. Dual screen nippy Mac Mini might do it. Ah Distractions!

Look, my Twenty Ten Theme is slowly growing Responsive… which is more than can be said for my Sony laptop.

Many websites are blacked out today to protest proposed U.S. legislation that threatens internet freedom: the Stop Internet Piracy Act (SOPA) and the Protect IP Act (PIPA). From personal blogs to Wikipedia, sites all over the web — including this one — are asking you to help stop this dangerous legislation from being passed. Please watch the video below to learn how this legislation will affect internet freedom.

Are you a WordPress warrior, or PHP wizard, a CSS samurai, general specky geek? – please share a reading list suggestion. I’ve not got anything for PHP yet.

My reading list is currently..

> CSS – the definitive guide – that book by Eric Meyers, from a decade ago

> Smashing CSS – Eric Meyers – although not for beginners, might be readable after the above
> Smashing WordPress Themes: Making WordPress Beautiful
> Smashing WordPress: Beyond the Blog

I’ll add to the list as I go, I’ve also dipped into some library borrows..

> Introducing HTML5
> WordPress Visual Quickstart Guide
> WordPress Theme Design [2008 copy]

If anyone has any recommendations for A grade starter materials or books, especially on CSS, WordPress, WordPress theme design, creative design, creative page layout, etc. Please Do!

Hi, I’m Tod. I studied graphic design and now work in technical support for custom web apps in Norwich, UK, and I’m currently addicted to reading anything on theme design and development for WordPress in my spare time, and ceaselessly banging on about the brilliance of WordPress to all my friends and anyone else I come into contact with. I finally accepted I was a hopeless WordPress fiend by the first day of the first month of 2012, hence this currently rather bare looking site.

..and its not just this site. What lacks most in many web design companies is the design bit. There’s people who can code, and people who can create a stunning page layout, but few who can do both. I want to be producing stunning WordPress themes with bells and whistles, neat CSS… within the next 6 months to a year hopefully… Go!

I have set up a Twitter for all things WordPress design / development related, themes, designers, forums, resources, links, videos, books, courses etc. Feel free to add to it, or get in touch – I like to find others who are doing similar things, and other wp beginners!
